Praying for my Boys...


Really...I wish I could say this prayer journal was my idea - but on every front it wasn't! I've wanted to write out the 7 Prayers a Day for my boys the moment I found them on Angie Smith's Blog "Bring The Rain": http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/
several months ago. It wasn't until this morning - at our Bible Study Potluck that my friends (Stacie & Suezi) planned a fun surprise craft after we were done eating. It was at that moment I knew this was the place my prayers would rest - a beautiful reminder to pray for my boys throughout each & everyday...

We were making, as a group, a little cardboard booklet hinged with 2 simple rings and decorated with the craziest, fantastic paper you've ever seen with embellishments I just didn't know what to do with. Truth be told - craftiness has eluded me for many years! Once upon a time...long long ago - I was rather crafty. A little like Martha Stewart - but not. So today my craftiness reared it's head - if only for a few hours - in my determination to create something I could keep as I pray my boys through these unknown teenage years. (These photos aren't the greatest - but it will give you an idea of the journal I made - I think it's cuter in real life!)

7 Prayers a Day - a reminder to pray for my boys
throughout the day...


When they wake up: "Let the morning bring Josh & Jordan word of your unfailing love, for they have put their trust in You. Show them the way they should go, for to you they lift up their soul." (Adapted from Psalm 143:8)
When they are getting dressed: "Therefore, as God's chosen child, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Lord, help Josh & Jordan bear with others and forgive whatever grievances they have against others. Help Josh & Jordan forgive as the Lord forgave them. And over all these virtues, help them put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." (Adapted from Colossians 3:12-14)

While they are eating: "Teach Josh & Jordan the secret of being content in any and every situation whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Teach them that they can do everything through him who gives them strength." (Adapted from Philippians 4:12-13)


When they go out of the house: "Josh & Jordan, do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will." (Adapted from Romans 12:2)

While they are taking a bath: Lord, give Josh & Jordan clean hands and a pure heart, and let them not lift their soul to an idol or swear by what is false. Let them receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Let Josh & Jordan be part of the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob.

When they are going to bed: "The Lord Your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, be will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:17)


While they are sleeping: "I pray that Josh & Jordan will do everything without complaining or arguing, so that they may become blameless and pure, a child of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which they shine like a star in the universe as they hold out the word of life-in order that Josh & Jordan may boast on the day of Christ that they did not run or labor for nothing." (Adapted from Philippians 2:14-16)
